Zimbabwe Diaspora Development Chamber

My name is LUKE Edward Montgomery Mudzimu Dzipange ZUNGA Ndiambahinze Hodhera. I am the treasurer of Global Zimbabwe Forum. After all has been said, we lack the economic vision. Many say democracy first. Others have not thought about it and many expect democracy to naturally deliver an economy.

What kind of Zimbabwe do we want and what kind of plan works. How is it financed?

Global Zimbabwe has annunciated a plan but we want to infuse your ideas. The premise is that the Diaspora is a permanent feature. Whatever happens, some of us will not easily abandon the Diaspora, preferring dual citizenship. But we all need to engage the development of Zimbabwe. Here is the structural plan.

Global Zimbabwe Forum

In December 2007 a global structure was created at the first global conference in Johannesburg. It operates world wide in 6 regions, namely

1. Australasia (New Zealand and Australia), represented by Mandhla Aka Dube based in New Zealand and Tinashe Chimedza based in Australia.

2. America(USA and Canada) represented by Prof Mukasa based in the USA and Canaan Mhlanga in Canada.

3. UK as a country represented by Violet Mariacha

4. Central Europe represented by Promise Mkwananzi based in Holland.

5. SADC (countries outside South Africa and Zimbabwe) represented by Simba Chirimubwe based in Botswana.

6. South Africa as a country represented by Grace Kwinjeh, Luke Zunga, Daniel Molokela, Tamuka Chirimambowa based in Durban.

The representatives are an interim structure. Every year an global conference is held at select cities in the world, where Zimbabweans will encourage each other and celebrate achievers with global awards. The leadership is elected every two years at the global conference.

The patron of Global Zimbabwe Forum is Prof Ken Mufuka based in the USA, and the acting coordinator is Nora Tapiwa based in the Johannesburg offices.

National Structures or Zimbabwe Diaspora Forums

Each region should form a national structure. South Africa was the first to form a national structure in June 2005, now made up of 43 NGOs in South Africa. The leadership are: Mr. Solomon 'Sox' Chikohwero(Chairperson)

Mr. Doctor Ncube (Vice Chairperson)

Ms. Lilian Samson (Committee member)

Mr. Immanuel Hlabangana (Committee member)

Mr. Eddie Matsangaise (Committee member)

Mr. Butholezwe Nyathi (Committee member)

Ms. Nora Tapiwa (National Coordinator)

The position of treasurer is vacant.

  • Zimbabwe Diaspora Forums coordinate national activities in South Africa.

Zimbabwe Diaspora Development Chamber

This is registered in South Africa to spearhead development agenda, starting in the Diaspora and prepare them for the reconstruction of a future democratic Zimbabwe. Invitations were sent out for those who would like to be board members to send in CVs by 30th April 2008. The board will be announced in May 2008.
